Our expertise spans a number of areas and you’ll find more details on each of these below:
Executive & CxO
We’ve learned from our own journey that leadership is everything. It’s the dreamers and the visionaries that give organisations the direction they need to succeed, often with nothing more than a great idea and a willingness to take teams and people on the journey with them.

Commercial & Technical: Change / Project & Programme Management / Business Analysis
– Charles Darwin
We’re in a world where change is constant and the speed of change is ever increasing. If you’re a business that understands and manages this successfully, you will always have the edge over your rivals. To do this, you need great people and to find them, you need an organisation with the expertise to understand how to quantify the often unquantifiable skills needed, to make large projects and change initiatives successful.
Energon People has been recruiting in this field for almost two decades. We have a wealth of experience building teams of interim change professionals across the Investment Banking, Investment, Wealth and Asset Management industries.
To put it simply, you’d be hard pushed to find any agency more qualified to meeting your objectives in this field. On our team we have Martin Jee – probably one of the best known software engineering recruiters in London, with an incomparable network and knowledge base (and an equally incomparable dress sense to match).
We can help you connect with and hire some of the world’s top talent in software development using a tailored blend of attraction techniques, ranging from the usual advertising, headhunting to the more creative such as technology quiz nights and targeted cake couriering campaigns.
Over the years, we’ve developed and fine-tuned an extensive set of technical questions for each of the major programming languages in use commercially… and one or two of the more esoteric languages (any Ada fans please send your questions on the back of a postcard). We back up these questions by sending our consultants on 101 OO programming courses, which helps us to ensure we only represent truly technically competent coders.
At the core of what we do is our intimate understanding of the London technology market’s zeitgeist, which we use to identify, attract and then secure the right candidates for each brief we are given. We know:
- Who is doing what in the market (where to find talent quickly and effectively)
- What the top technology talent in the market is looking for
- What rates and salaries the market is paying
- What technologies are in vogue and which ones are mainstay
- What companies are making waves in the recruitment market and why
Most importantly we understand how these affect the career aspirations of today’s technologist and we use that understanding to further enhance our recruitment capabilities.
Testing & QA
It doesn’t matter whether you’re a 10-man fintech start-up, a multi-million pound corporate or an enterprise-scale goliath, Quality Assurance still has the power to make or break your business. Done well it can save you money, build your brand reputation, drive profit and sit you at the top of your industry. Done badly and you could very quickly, find yourself dusting off your old CV.
Yes, technology has caused a shift in QA mind-set, enabling many tasks – which were previously carried out by larger manual teams, to be automated. It doesn’t take away the need for great people however, and we’ve seen proof of this recently with the rise of Microsoft’s concept role, the “Software Developer in Test”.
So regardless of your size of business, your priorities or your chosen QA methodology, you’re still going to need testing expertise with a mastery of the core principles of QA. You’ll want someone who knows what an acceptable level of test coverage is, who knows when to automate and when to stick to manual, who knows when to stop testing and when it’s appropriate to stop a release.
Here at Energon People, we pride ourselves in delivering just that and we technically screen all of our QA’s to lift the fog in a market where so many CVs look identical – helping to bring clarity to the recruitment process.
DevOps & Automation
“In the new world, it’s not the big fish that eats the small fish, it’s the fast fish that eats the slow fish…”
Hands up who remembers what a Release Manager used to do?
That might seem like an arrogant question today, but it’s no small secret that Jez Humble and Dave Farley’s seminal book on Continuous Delivery has changed the way we deploy software forever.
At the root of this market shift is the simple automation of repetitive manual tasks that has been the key to efficient production ever since Henry Ford’s assembly line in the first years of the 20th century. Today innovative development methodologies and OpenStack tooling has made automation a revolutionary force in software engineering.
And at the pinnacle of the movement to automate stands the DevOps Engineer. A role that only exists because of the recent aligning of the agile development, cloud storage and automation stars.
With the advent of the Cloud, deployment is no longer handled by Release Managers and Sys-Admins bumbling about in a basement server room. Your servers are now more likely to be in Crawley, California or even China and that doesn’t matter, because they can be administrated remotely through a configuration management tool like Chef or Puppet. Doing this however, means DevOps will not just be concerned with the smooth deployment of individual releases but with the automation of the many releases that come with continuous delivery.
Predictably, the industry has reacted with a “goldrush-esque” style race to catch up with the neighbours and this has brought all of the usual technology market teething problems and idiosyncrasies. That in turn has created a minefield of recruitment problems for the team trying to hire quality staff.
At Energon People we have the Blue-Hatted, mine-sweeping expertise to help guide you safely through. We have the experience and the judgement in this market, to identify the talent from the wannabes and we have the expertise to attract and secure them for your organisation.
Infrastructure & Networks
Infrastructure is one of the most complex, fast paced and specialist sectors, driven by technology, innovation and most importantly by exceptional professionals within highly skilled multi–disciplinary teams.
Energon People can deliver server, network, desktop and web infrastructure experts, either contract or permanent, across any sector.
We are especially well-connected in the interim marketplace here, helping organisations to source and secure interim solutions to infrastructure challenges, whether that’s ‘business as usual’ or transformation-led.
Sales & Marketing
We are acutely aware that no matter how big the dream, or compelling the idea, it ultimately comes down to the simple notion of selling your product or service, somewhere, somehow, to someone. For a profit.
Operating principally across Tech and Media, we can help you attract the best talent out there. We have placed some of the industry’s leading minds in this space, helping organisations transform their proposition and turn on the share-price-afterburners button (once you find it, you’ll never look back).
